Bad Assitude by Red-Gambit Bad Assitude by Red-Gambit
Holy crap, has it been a while since I posted anything. Check my blog for an update on that, because I'm gonna try posting some more from now on.

Anyways, this is a picture of my character Faye Valentine (yes, I know there is another Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, don't care) that I've whipped up with PS CS4 and my trusty Wacom. It was really more of an experiment in rendering since if you look at the rest of my gallery, it's laughably bad in terms of coloring and well...everything.

Mad props to chuck-piresART who did the initial designs along with a bunch of pictures I commissioned him for, as well as providing me with a lot of inspiration for pallete and rendering style.

Anyways, please leave a comment if you enjoy! Comments are fuel for my art!

Anatomy is awesome, so did you do it straight in photoshop or did you first create a Vector image in illustrator then color in photoshop? I like your techniques. Really good shading and the lighting looks bad ass.

Thanks! I do everything in Photoshop (you can tell by the slightly rough lines). I just have a bunch of reference material on hand at any time. I'm usually refining my technique with each pic, as you can see from my gallery.

She's looking pretty good, and I like the pose. The colors are looking alright, as well.

Thanks! She's good, but I think I've improved my technique with Sexy Posin' (not much detail in the highlights, lines could be cleaner, ect). Already thinking about how I can improve on that with the next picture :)

You're welcome.

As for the pose itself, it works well here, but a lot of people (friends, others) have gotten on me for overusing it. It's an issue I've been trying to fix for a long time :(

Thank you. I'm trying to look at ways to present character art beyond just dumping it on a blank page. Though for my next image I really want to draw a background.

I know what you mean. I tend to only plan the focus of the image and once that image is done everything else becomes an afterthought. I personally hate drawing backgrounds, but hope your next pic works out for you :)
