Bad Assitudeby ~Red-Gambit

Holy crap, has it been a while since I posted anything. Check my blog for an update on that, because I'm gonna try posting some more from now on.

Anyways, this is a picture of my character Faye Valentine (yes, I know there is another Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, don't care) that I've whipped up with PS CS4 and my trusty Wacom. It was really more of an experiment in rendering since if you look at the rest of my gallery, it's laughably bad in terms of coloring and well...everything.

Mad props to chuck-piresART who did the initial designs along with a bunch of pictures I commissioned him for, as well as providing me with a lot of inspiration for pallete and rendering style.

You can see from the gallery that the last drawing I did was back in '08. I actually did one piece in the interem, but it's so horrible I'm too ashamed to post it. I'd love to take credit for all the improvement and say it's just talent, but I've been studying up on tutorials from some of the artists here on DA.

I'm working on a new piece now, hopefully should have something up in the next week or so. Thanks for the compliment!

You shouldn't play it down. You can learn from anyone and use any tutorial, but at the end of the day it is your drive and ethic that allows you to make such improvements. Despite the notion that you can't create anything that well without emulating another artist, it takes a considerable amount of skill to do even that.
I always get a bit excited when I am able to see an artist improve, and you have improved. I am looking forward to your next piece.
